Let's be real.. no one likes to be uncomfortable.
That's why we stick to the same brands when we buy our jeans, we go to the same restaurants, we won't take risks in our careers, and we'd rather be quiet than to admit we don't know the answer to a question.
I was told that nothing grows in a comfort zone.
How do we expect to know what we're capable of if we don't take risks? When people say life is short, it may be cliché, but it doesn't make it untrue. We get one shot at this - every single day.
Get a little uncomfortable.
It's in those times of discomfort where we find God and His power.
Let's look at Abraham and Lot.
Abraham was a man of God, and Lot was his nephew.
God told Abraham to leave all that was familiar to him - his home, and go to foreign territory (Genesis 12:1-4).
I don't know about you, but the thought of that SCARES me. Leaving my friends, my family and all things familiar to me gives me anxiety just to imagine. But, Abraham followed God's direction with zero hesitation or objection.
I might have had some questions for God if it were me, but that's another story.
What are you limiting yourself to by being scared of the unknown?
What lies on the other side of fear for you?
Maybe it's a new place to live like Abraham, maybe it's a new career path, or a decision you've been putting off but feel a tugging at your spirit that it's time to just rip the band-aid.
Don't be afraid of discomfort.
We learn a lot about ourselves by venturing out into uncharted territory. We learn what we are capable of. We learn how powerful our voices are. We learn how much of an impact we can have on other people who may have experienced similar troubles.
We learn that we are resilient.
Do one thing this week that makes you uncomfortable. This is your sign!
Write down how you feel about whatever that choice is BEFORE you journey into the uncomfortable. Then, write down how you feel after it's done.
Go out and do it again.
And again.
You are strong.
And you can do ALL things through Christ (Philippians 4:13).
